Join Dr. Mary Coghill (Exeter) and Dr. Nigel Hyman (Sid Vale Association) on 28 October, 2019 (the 45th anniversary of David Jones’s death) to see the newly instated Blue Plaque dedicated to David Jones at Sidmouth, Devon. The day will include several events, according to the following timetable:
10.00am Catholic Mass for David Jones at the Catholic Parish Church 11.00 am talk with slides on 'David Jones: His life in Sidmouth' by Dr Mary Coghill in St Teresa's Hall (further details to be announced). Lunch at everyone's own convenience - suggested location the Fort Café which is part of the Fort Hotel where David Jones stayed during his 4-5 years here. 1.30 - 2.30 pm: A walk round the places in Sidmouth that David Jones knew and visited, and to include other literary figures associated with Sidmouth. The guide for the walk will be Dr Nigel Hyman of The Sid Vale Association.
There is small charge for the talk in the morning and for the walk in the afternoon - £5.00 in all (tbc).
